Before arriving at our facility, please familiarize yourself with the important information below to help your pet have the best possible outcome.
To help prevent common diseases, we strongly recommend your pet be vaccinated at least one week prior to surgery with the DA2PP (distemper/parvo - for dogs) or FVRCP (distemper/upper respiratory - for cats). While no vaccine is 100% effective, vaccination will lessen the chance of your pet contracting disease, as well as decreasing the severity of the disease if your pet does contract it.
In addition, Indiana state law requires a current rabies vaccination for your pet. Please bring proof in the form of a certificate (tags are not acceptable forms of proof). This can be a paper certificate or a clear photograph on your phone emailed to our clinic at firstname.lastname@example.org 2 days prior to the date of surgery.
Without adequate proof of Rabies, we are required to administer a Rabies vaccination at the time of surgery, and there will be an additional charge to do so.
2. Fasting Before Surgery
If your animal is over four months of age please do not feed your dog or cat after midnight the night before surgery.
If you have a puppy or kitten four months of age or younger, you do not need to fast them and they may eat breakfast the day of surgery. All animals should continue to have access to water prior to surgery at all times.
3. Keep Your Pet Indoors
Pets must be kept indoors or confined the night before surgery. This ensures that they are not eating unknown/foreign objects outside, which could potentially be dangerous during surgery.
Our current check-in time is 7:00 AM.
All dogs must remain in your vehicle during the check-in process. Staff will instruct you when it is time to bring them inside the clinic. All dogs must be on a leash.
All cats must be in a carrier marked with its name and your last name, and can be brought inside and remain with you during the check-in process.
You may be asked to wait until the end of the check-in process if you have a very anxious or fractious pet, to reduce undue stress for your pet and other animals. Please expect a minimum of at least a half-hour for the check-in process.
*Late drop-offs cannot be accommodated due to our strict surgery schedule. If you are late, your pet will not be having surgery and will be returning home with you. You will lose all of your prepayment. There are no exceptions.*
Your pet’s pick-up time will be scheduled with a technician at the time of drop off. Latest pickup time is 5pm.
6. Method of Payment
We only accept cash, credit, debit, CareCredit, or Scratchpay payments. Checks are not accepted. Payment is due in full at check-in.
* If you need to cancel your appointment, please contact Preventative Pet Health of Michiana at least 48 hours prior to your appointment, otherwise your prepayment IS NONREFUNDABLE. (Cancellation must be made via live phone call, email, or voicemail 48 hours prior to your surgical appointment.)*
